Probably just a through cleaning and checking of the carb and a mixture screw adjustment would fix the problem. Usually a tune-up (carb, filter, plug etc.) and adjustment will prevent this from happening in the future. Jon

bigfoot
The one you can do without any tools. It's a knurrled (sp) screw. I'd also check the other stuff above and get the mixture right. The mixture screw is the only to the left of the idle screw and needs a small screwdriver to adjust. Get the bike warm and leaving it ticking over (adjust the idle if it wont) then turn mixture screw either way until you get the best (highest speed) idle. You're now very close. Give the throttle a blip or two and adjust very small amounts again to see if you can improve it still. If we knew which bike it was we'd be able to give you a pretty good starting point for the mixture screw. Usually about 2 turns out from fully screwed in.
