gas_gas_96
hi ive posted previous problems about my bike and you all fixed them so here goes sometimes if i stall the bike because it is still a cold engine i can knock it back into neutral and it will roll freely but a couple of times now it has knocked itself into gear also i rode it the other day and rolled it into the garage for storage when i came back to it it was in gear and nobody had ****ed around with it is this a simple fix or could it be the clutch ? thanks
houseape1000
Check out GasGas on you tube.....there's a few vids on maintenance, one of which shows how to re-align the gear selector shaft. Click here Watch from about 6 mins for the transmission set up. Hope this helps ! Edited August 5, 2010 by houseape1000
jse
hi ive posted previous problems about my bike and you all fixed them so here goes sometimes if i stall the bike because it is still a cold engine i can knock it back into neutral and it will roll freely but a couple of times now it has knocked itself into gear also i rode it the other day and rolled it into the garage for storage when i came back to it it was in gear and nobody had ****ed around with it is this a simple fix or could it be the clutch ? thanks The clutch has nothing to do with the gear selection so I wouldn't worry about that. The 96 is totally unlike the Pro and there is a spring-loaded arm with a roller (under the clutch) that locks the shift drum in gear and neutral (the roller drops into the gaps on a star-shaped collar on the end of the shift drum). Look for a weak spring on the roller arm and/or worn bushings in the arm/roller assembly. The parts can be replaced without splitting the cases.
