duckwizard
I notice from previous posts some people are using 'Sammy Miller' Oil tank braced struts, which I assume neccesitate the alloy petrol tank. Does this make the the bike a oil in frame type and not legible for Scottish Pre-65? If it is acceptable, is this beneficial to the side alloy tank. Any comments. What forks are you people using on your bikes, Pre-65 only.
triton
The tank brace strut is used with alloy/fibreglass petrol tanks to prevent the frame breaking at the swan neck. SM does one that holds just over a pint of oil, this gets rid of the clutter of the oil tank in its original place, I have a steel original oil tank fitted, eventually I will fit an alloy one or oil in brace strut type. I have a SM alloy petrol tank with brace strut(no oil type) I use Triumph cub heavyweight forks, they have only 3inches of travel which is abit hard on the arms/wrists dropping of steep banks etc. I have just dropped my swinging arm off at Ray Small's to have it made longer and slightly wider, also to have rear sprocket spacer fitted and brake plate modified. I am not sure on SSDT eligibility regarding oil in brace mod.
