toofasttim
The bike looks clean enough but I think there's something funny about the tank. What do you think? Italian

toofasttim
Too bulbous looking. That's what I thought. Can anybody enlighten us about this variant?
axulsuv
I don't remember the model nomenclature , but I'm pretty sure montesa sold a larger tank version of the cota , just like bultaco with the Sherpa/Alpina bikes ... Forerunners of the long ride kit !!! Glenn
toofasttim
I don't remember the model nomenclature , but I'm pretty sure montesa sold a larger tank version of the cota , just like bultaco with the Sherpa/Alpina bikes ... Forerunners of the long ride kit !!! Glenn Glenn, that was the 348T which, as you said, had a bigger tank and seat as well as different gearing and the footrests were differently positioned. This appears to be pure 348 but the tank is different. I think (can't quite make it out) it may even be a plastic tank. feetupfun
To me it looks like some other tank has been grafted onto the seat section of a 348 tank
toofasttim
I was hoping you'd wade in on this one Dave. What about a 348T tank with a bit chopped off and a 348 seat?
feetupfun
I did wonder that but the brochure shot you posted of a 348T has the fuel filler in a different spot Isn't it amazing how a slightly different shape to the fuel tank can change the looks from sexy n sleek to yuk city? nh014
If I can add my two cents, it really does appear to be a 348T with the rear portion of the tank removed (cut off) to accommodate a 348 seat.

I agree Dave. The first time I saw a 348 in the flesh I thought it was a thing of beauty. That tank was just soooo pretty.
big john
I haven't seen a 348 tank like that before, maybe a bad photo, but looks like half a ton of plastic padding filler added to the outside of a 348 MRR tank seat unit!
