bowellsyboy
Hi, just putting a new Iris chain on my 08 Gasser and the chain is about 5mm to short to join up with a normal link. I put a half/split link and connected up with 2 straight joiners to make it a bit longer and now the chain is to slack even with the cams right around. (It's not slack enough to come off but the chain tensioner is right up against the swing arm) I know you can get oversize cams but dont really want to go down this route as id need to buy a new axle as well. Would it be ok to run the chain a bit slack for a while, wait for it to stretch a bit then take the extra links out? Any help would be great. bowellsyboy
Hi dave, Im running 10 on the front and 42 on the back. You riding at the old mine kinlet tomorrow?
lowbrow
I run 11/42 and the standard 102 link chain is perfect. Would've expected your one-and-a-half link to have been just right if you took a link out first. Have you got a link extractor? I should be at Kinlet and can bring mine. Any chance I might bump into a certain young man from Hereford?
5again
I just had this very problem, and solved it courtesy of your local parts stockists in Church Stretton, Iris half link (plus another split link as you say) - but had to remove a link first. With 10 - 42 gearing then the chain then is spot on, effectively 101 links.
