copemech Posted September 28, 2010 Report Share Posted September 28, 2010 (edited) Hammer, basically in answer to your question, The PHBL 26 Dellorto is the AK-47 of carbs, it is tough, durable and just works, add works well if one spends a little time and effort with it. Which is why it is the widely used standard. The Kiehin, (or OKO being a cheap copy) is like an M-16, they are a higher precision metering device at lower openings, yet may require a lot of maintenance and care in adjustment, cleaning and such, and may vary more on the day. The top end power can be a bit better with the 28(big bore), yet still that is a trade off as finer adjustments on the lower end of the spectrum(where we mostly ride) then become more difficult. Which is why our's set on the shelf. Unless you just have a case ov "Tinker-itis" like a few of us, you will find both time and money better spent on getting your dellorto working as best it will, and riding the crap out of it! There is not THAT much difference! The Kiehin/Oko also has some disadvantage in fitment. They are a bit taller and wider , and really do not like to go into the limited space. Pain in the butt!
