Firstly I'd like to say hello to you all , the beers are on me!!!

Due to a slight miscalculation on my part, I find myself the proud owner of a 200 Sherco, 2000 or 2001 , with shot main bearings. Lots of horrible noises from the bottom end, and 5mm + of play on the flywheel.

I have a couple of questions for those of you who know more than me that I'd be grateful for some replies to.

First I need to identify the exact model and year of the bike. Second, where is the best place to buy the spares I need - bearings , seals , gaskets etc. Third, I'm not a mechanical virgin, but I've never had a Sherco engine apart before. Is there anything specific I might need to watch for?

I'm sure I'll have more later, but thats it for now.

Cheers.

The 200, or 2.0 Sherco(163cc i think) is a sweet bike and will perform well, I would think yours at about 2001 model, as not sure the put them out before.

I know experienced riders who just love the little gentile giants, as the are likely to do anything you want or need.

A set of bearings, seals and gaskets is not too dear, and it is a keeper, unless you just need BIG power!

Cheers for the info.

All the bits to fix it are cheaper than I thought, so its not a big disaster. And thanks to the link at the top the info to do it is all readily available. Its been a few years since I've had a motor down to its crank, and I was feeling a little unsure about the whole thing.

163cc? Is that right?

163cc is right, basically it's a 125 with a big bore kit. Most 200s are roughly the same size with the only differences occuring above the cases

Every piece of info you could possibly need for rebuilding & running your bike are on shercos website, I'm assuming you've already found the links at the top of the page
