beta_trials
Well fellas im just not getting to putting a new set of rings into my 94 Beta Techno. It seems pretty strait forward but i began to think of what else i should do while the head is off the bike. its piston knocking so i have ordered a new set of rings in a whole rebuild kit. what else should i have done.I have the header pipe in a hot tank right now to remove 15+ years of carbon deposit. what else should i do to the other various parts besides normal cleaning and repairing? Not engine but well worth stripping the rear suspension apart and regreasing, once these go dry they fail quickly and cost a lot to replace. copemech
Do tell us if the new rings fix a piston slap issue! I cannot fathom this myself, yet some have reported such.
beta_trials
Do tell us if the new rings fix a piston slap issue! I cannot fathom this myself, yet some have reported such. When i opened the motor the other day. I checked everything on the piston and rotating assembly and there is no play other than what is normal for tolerance. This bike has been ridden hard for its life but not abused. All its needing is a simple re-ring and it will be good to go. What else should i do to it while its apart though? Well believe it or not I just got my new rings the other day and put them in this afternoon and the final result is: NO MORE PISTON SLAP. Bike basically has a brand new motor in it now. Also may i add that all i did was put new rings into the motor. It still has the original piston and rest of the assembly.
