whitedog
Recently bought 2003 Sherco290, everything seems to be doing what it should do except for a clucking sound which you can hear when you initially snap open the throttle when warm.Could this possibly be a mixture problem or an internal carb problem, or maybe even the throttle cable needs tightening ?? Apart from this little problem everything else seems fine. Anyone have any other ideas to what it could be ? Thanks.

whitedog
Yes Tony, only once but it is currently being run on Tesco high octane and Castrol TTS oil. Like the previous reply, perhaps running a bit lean. Will probably have a tinker with it on the weekend, but any other suggestions gratefully taken on board .Cheers
ormplus
shouldnt need to run on high octane. we run all ours on 100cc of oil to 5ltr fully syn oil and never have and problems.
copemech
One may shoose to run whatever one likes, yet the majority of us seem to run the highest octane pump gas one can find, with the best oils at 80:1 works fine. I personally think the bikes in that year range were more sensitive to octane requirements and lean mixtures. Any idea what jetting is in it? neo
except for a clucking sound Could be a stuck chicken valve ..... sorry, I couldn't resist it Are the reeds completely closed?...You'd need to take the reed block out to check... and turning the reeds over would prove the point. Best of balance. Neo
