bigwilly
I've been running my ty on 25-1 since I got it though the last 2 times out it has taken a while to run right. Today it was a pig and I spent a whole bunch of time fannying about with plugs which leads me to beleive the mix I'm running is too rich. I know many modern trials bikes run leaner though am unsure what I should be putting in this. What do you guys and girls run them on? chewy
way too much oil Others will know exactly what the TY prefers but I would have thought more like 70 to 1 on synthetic or even a semi sythetic oil. Incidentally (it's logic that more oil means less actual petrol to detonate so it would actually run a bit lean regards air /petrol mix. Why not try 50 to 1 petrol/oil using decent oil and see if it improves.
badbowie
Yeah I use Motorex and mix it at 50:1 in my Mono.
guy53
I run 2% ( 50/1 ) in my ty250a with good motorcycle oil and it is still a little ritch, but no fouled plugs and it start on 2nd kick cold and 1st when hot. If you have been running that mixture for a while, you will probably have to clean your pipe. Guy

bigwilly
Many thanks all, good advice greatfully received. I've thinned out the mix to 50:1 Not had time to get out on it since though it starts and runs fine. The exhaust is leaking the black stuff as would be expected and may need cleaning though I'll only do it if I really need to as the list of mechanical jobs on the various vehicles I own is mounting high at the minute. kuelmuel
I run mine on the cheapest nastiest oil that my local bike shop stocks, mixed at 50:1. Been doing it for 4 years and it's never oiled a plug up.
bigwilly
Cheers all. I've been out on the TY and still had a lesser issue with fouling so took the pipe off and gave it a clean. All now running sweet, just needs a new throttle cable now, and fork seals, and front shoes, and chain and sprokets.
martinjansen
Hallo, I run 1:50 Putoline TT Trial Pro Scented. But I also replaced the crankshaft oil seals. That helped a lot. Greetings from overhere and lots of fun whit your TY's, Martin
