jackbeta125 Posted December 19, 2010 Report Share Posted December 19, 2010 hi guys just got a beta125 04 for my 2 sons ,how much does oil does gear box take in mm? and can i use mx gearbox oil he had a kx 85 before and i used putoline mx gear oil it? also got a prob with the carb i think the choke is stuck as its running very boggy at high revs ,sorry for all the questions new to all this, we ve all been playing on it all day ,cold but great fun thanks Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Cheers thanks for that ,the bike has been stood for while by the last owner s ,starts well ,but runs like its on choke still .carb strip and clean? do the chokes stick on this model? jackbeta125 Posted December 21, 2010 Author Report Share Posted December 21, 2010 right fellas stripped the carb down ,no probs there took flywheel caseing of oh dear covered in rust ,the guy did say it had been stood for months,gonna get the rust off tomorow plus spray with wd40 someone has sealed the caseing with silicone,shall i reseal or is it best to leave air gap for moisture to get out ?hope the stator is ok ,ime no mechanic guys HELP Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

When you say rust ...this will just be the fly wheel weight unless its been taken off... They are all prone to rust up with any hint of water etc etc. Do NOT use WD40 (Use a contact cleaner) LIKE IN LINKY http://www.putoline.com/en/products/catalogue/segp_kart/pmp/540/karting/maintenance-products/contact-cleaner-spray-ae/ WD40 will only let any rubbish (DUST /DIRT) stick to the electrical components and build up all sorts of crap Have you checked the bikes kill switch ? (even on a new bike the beta ones are not the best) if its been on the bike for a long time it may be faulty. Is the earth lead on the bike clean and fixed down properly ? Check the HT lead at both ends If all else fails it may be to strator problem... (i would phone lampkins /beta uk importers 01535 655970) and tell them your problem and they will point you in the right direction. jackbeta125 Posted December 23, 2010 Author Report Share Posted December 23, 2010 thankyou will check all these things tomorrow , well guys rang beta uk today they were very helpfull ,told me they don t think its stator ,cdi ,probs took off carb again, checked rubber manifold to head for splits none, god these bikes are tight to work on took out packin on exhaust full of crap still running bad .i think it might be fuel contamination as bike was stood for month s before i bought it,and i topped it up with new fuel, bought a new fuel filter too as old one looked dirty hope now ime getting close to the prob wish me luck gonna drain tank tomorrow and refuel .
