beatabeta
Tarres ALL day long for me. As mentioned elsewhere he made trials what it is today. Doug was (and is) awesome but for me had less consistent challengers that could beat him (to the championship not a trial) Tarres had - Michaud, Bosis, Miglio, Ahvala Lampkin had - Colomer and Fuji Also what I consider very important is that Tarres won back the WTC not oncce but TWICE 1989 and 1993. So Tarres won 7 times over a 9 year period Lampkin won 7 years on the bounce (AWESOME ACHIEVEMENT BTW) but had not as good challengers and once he lost it was not able to regain it. Bou is doing the same thing now and totally changing trials and taking it to another cyclo trials level. In a few years time you might all say Bou depending on what happens. But for me right now Jordi Tarres is the all time greatest trial rider

Fujigas was one hell of a challenger and still is so i dont think its fair to say he had no contenders. cota kid
you can add Tarres, Kuroyama, Friexa, Jarvis, Cabestany, Raga, Colley, Cobos to the list of contenders. Doug's record speaks for itself.
rosey
Can't compare different generations really, but in terms of how easy they made it look (and pre Bou too!) Tarres, Michaud, Rathmell oh and Andrews (Europea Champ but the same thing)
proc
got to be doug who else has the sheer determination and will power to give it everything and put their body on the line for a win, i wouldn't like to try ride with a broken wrist!!! t-shock 250
Except Tarres........
beatabeta
Oh yea lol. But by the time Doug was winning WTC Tarres was well past his bestest : )
cota kid
They could all win TRIALS but NONE EVER challenged for the title The point is there were just as many very good riders capabable of winning in Doug's reign,as there was during Tarres the fact is none, except maybe Fujigas, did challenge for the title because Doug was so dominant. Doug's record speaks for itself. Not forgetting Joan Pons who was completely demoralized by Doug.
