sunny
How do you break the clutch apart? Is there a sercret to compressing the clutch to pull the pins? Or does it come off as a unit? P.S. Is there a workshop manual for the Montesa? I have the Haynes and Clinton for my Bultaco's but I can not find anything more than the parts diagram for the Cota 348 Sunny
vintagecota
It comes off as a unit... loosen the nut after flattening the tab washer, then pull on the whole unit with one hand, both if you have a helper, and tap on the nut squarely with a "dead blow" hammer. (plastic, filled with lead). Be patient... When it pops off, there's 3 locating dowels an 2 different flat washers that you'll need to catch. Remember the order of the flat washers. sunny
Thanks for the info. I now have three 348 motors (2 with the missing flywheel) hoping to make one good one out of it. Sunny
sunny
Got it off. Easy with light pressure from a puller. I did not see any flat washers. Are they "inside the clutch" when I remove the circlip? Sunny

nh014
The spacer (more like a thrust washer) is located between the inner clutch basket and the inner side case. If you have access to a part diagram, as you have indicated, it is part number 0263.126.
bpilgrim
I've got an electronic montesa manual, that was kindly passed on to me, it covers most models, and has been very useful for my 348, most parts seem fairly common. It's here on my website under 'Useful Stuff' http://bpilgrim.co.nr/ Hope this helps.
