russ079
Hiya, Ive just bought myself a 1998 Tx270, Had a few bikes but never done trails before. So looking forward to going out on it. The bike needed some tlc, Ive sorted most of it but am struggling with the clutch, Ive tried everything i can think of but it still drags badly. When I first got the bike the clutch lever felt spongy and with it fully pulled in, it felt like it was on the biting point and would pull you forwards. So Ive bleed the clutch and adjusted the master cylinder, with the cover off its pushing the clutch cover out 3/4mm so i think thats enough?. Ive checked all the fiber and steels plates and they all look in good condtion. the marks are lined up on the cover and the bar and ball bearing are in. When I first drained the oil it seemed milky but could have been because it was old, I refilled with atf. But when I start the bike i pull in the clutch fully and put it in gear it feels like and biting and trys to pull me forward, and after a few seconds the clutch starts to bit more and more and soon does nothing, i have to hold the front brake on sharp to stop it flying forward the it just wheel spins and i have to kill the engine quick. I dont know what else to try now, and the bikes virtually unridable, as it is. If the clutch plates swell up from water do i then need a complete clutch pack or is an oil change enough?? Also the engine was suppose to only just had a fully engine rebuild and not run in yet, is it possible to had a new clutch in and too thicker plates put in?? Thanks Russ
