rcgods
Anyone have any recommendation and why? I use Putoline Chain Wax, well something similar. Still got a couple of tins of it from the 70s.

Agreed any chain lube will stay put if applied properly. Shake can well, ideally apply to a dry chain, and leave for at least 12 hours before use, to allow the propellant (which keeps the lube loose enough to spray) to evaporate. nzralphy
I use Maxima Chain Wax. It lubes really well, stays put, and never have to degrease the chain. Wash is with water after a ride.... let it dry and relube. Done. Brilliant stuff, goes a long way, and the chain is lasting really well! lumpylion
The two chain lubes I can recommend would be Maxima Chain Wax and Motul Off-Road chain lube. Once set, they form a very dry and sticky lubricant that I find works great.
trialsmotopat
I have a shameful secret - nah !!! I was at a loss what to do with old gearbox oil, so I put it in an oil squirt can and apply this to the chain (top and bottom) and rub in with a toothbrush, then wipe off the excess with a rag. I've always been of the opinion that offroad the muck will cling to anything sticky on the chain.
mobbster
Hi I have used chain wax and all types of other stuff...... The best stuff i have used by a mile is radycool..its cheap if compared to other types of chain lube and does not fly off http://www.saundersextremesports.co.uk/product.php?id=1237976946&parent=10 cheers
yamahaty250xox
In my experience, after a ride, pressure wash the chain then spray with WD40, GT85 whatever. Then let that disperse water overnight then lube with Poutoline Chain lube (DX11?), Job done!

Leave the bike standing over some paper or other absorbant material ( Her indoors hates oil on the carpet ) A short ride down the lane the next day, Wipe off the splashes off the wheel and surrounding areas, Jobs a good un
the addict
Keep using WD40 mate
nzralphy
Keep using WD40 mate Yeah but it isn't really lubricating the chain rollers as it has a very low quantity of oil in it. Your chain will last longer if it is lubricated properly.
t-shock 250
What is worse though, A. A clean chain with very little lube on it? (WD40) B. A well lubed chain with mud/grit sticking to it with every turn of the wheel forming a nice paste? C. Another option...... Discuss.

I wip the chain off and leave it in a tub of old gear oil for a day or so leave to drain off and refit.
