rodmac Posted February 16, 2011 Report Share Posted February 16, 2011 i've got a 2002 txt50 boy and its started cutting out after about an hour or so ,have cleaned and blown out carb and its still doing it, runs fine up till that point then its not keen on starting,leave it a while and it starts but will only run for a couple of minutes then cuts out ....any ideas ????? cheers Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Easy enough to test: the next time it dies, just open the fuel tank filler cap, which should relieve vacuum lock if that's the problem. juanroberts Posted July 8, 2012 Report Share Posted July 8, 2012 Sorry for the late reply, but for the record, sometimes the ignitor coil is bad and as the motor heats up the heat expands the coil, the effect being the windings at the higher temperature short out and send less voltage/current to the spark plug. You can test for this by checking the resistance of the coil and comparing the readings (in Ohms) to those produced by a properly-working TXT50.
