hoggyf
Hi Wondering on opinions on a poor front brake on a 97 JTR 250 There is reasonable pressure on the front brake but not like there is on my VFR 750, it seems to travel a long way before becoming firm and it doesn't pull the bike up sharply at all. I've tried bleeding it - no better, tried tye wrapping the lever back overnight - no better so was thinking that possible the master cylinder needs re-building??? Whats the opinions????
alvin123
Are the piston moving? Are you able to opporate and then lever the piston back in the caliper. The piston may be seized. If this is all ok, I would face the brake pads with a square edge of a file, whilst keeping the pad locked in a vice. Don't let the file rock, as you need to keep the surface square and even. Once this has been done, adjust the lever so you have some free play, but take the play out thus making the biting point by a small pull on the lever. If all of this does not work then you have hydraulic issues.
