johnd
Hi All Just joined and have a few questions about my bikes which I hope some one can help with. I recently bought a pair of Yamaha Ty175's for me and my son to have some fun with. One of the bikes is pretty much in standard condition with standard handlebars, standard rear shocks and the front forks set at 20mm above the top yoke, the one my son rides. My bike is fitted with '6" renthals,Betor rear shocks which appear to be 340mm long, and the front forks set flush with the top yoke. Of the two bikes, my son's is the nicer to ride. Both have bars that seem to have the same amount of rise, and the foot rest positions both seem the same, stardard. Both of us being over 6 foot tall, after an hour or so's riding, we both feel twinges in our backs, suggesting our riding position isn,t set right, Iknow some of my complaints might be to do with my age, but for my son to complain as well? What I want to know is are there any taller bars available? Perhaps lowering the footrests is the answer, but what are the effects of this? Or are there any other mods that can be made to improve the ridng position. Other than that the bikes are great fun.
mattylad
Lower the footrest is a good idea. John kane of trial and trials does them. This will have biggest effect as the rest of your spec looks OK for starting. After that you can consider longer swingarm +2"
