I havn't seen this topic but if it has already been posted my apologises.

My opening gambit commences with three questions below. One rule to this thread please 'No bashing honest replies'. Pictures would be great of your British/Twinshock bikes and any helpful bike set up tips for me especially...lol. Sorry no pics of my bike its in bits i'm setting about if with some halfords spray cans at the moment and not doing to gooda job. I'm riding a Fantic 240

Q: What weight of fork oil (or type of oil) do you recommend to prevent agreesive rebound on a set of 1980's 35mm zocchi forks?

Q: How do you remove head race bearings?

Q: What flywheel weights are best used on rocks i've two to bolt to the flywheel?

hi cliff

i will be there, i will be there, i ....will....be ....there

220 10w recomended by fantic. 10w is good for your lardy mass bur start with 190cc

head races, knock em out with a screw driver, top lifts out...one on the bottom yoke needs a puller which cost 459 quid so heatv thze yoke, put in a press, and press the steerer our.

re-assembly completely the other way

leave all the weights ON

all the time

even at barbrook

and its a madras fer me in the evening

did yer book waterloo?

I only got the orange rim on tge front so far. Picked up tge motor yesterday...... 263cc using an offset ground crank pin. Will get it running at the weekend.

You will effectivly have dropped 10 piints at start of day one without gold rims

Your going big with a 263cc i'm still standard at 212cc. Hey, some fancy language there Lee (Offset ground crank pin) that kinda talk is pornographic...lol. So what size carby? You now the saying "the bigger carby the bigger the riders......"..lol

So now yours is bigger than mine, if your interested, i fired my small bore Fantic up today. All is okay so far she's reving nicely and ticks over. first ride tomorrow at a practise day. had a brief ride in my back garden and it didn't fall to bits. I've fitted some 1970's 7.5inch bars so no more fat bars. 300 brake plate with new shoes and a new seat. The seat is fitted without welding the frame because i don't have a welder. 243 forks and yokes and 243 electrics, lots of changes from what it was perhaps too many changes i should have done one at a time. Tomorrow's ride is important! The wife recons its looks nice but said i should get a gold muffler to go with the gold rims! The most important information for you to know is i've used not one but 'Two' cans of Halford's finest aerasol spray and if you don't get both your wheels sorted you'll be buying all the drinks Friday night!. So now you know what i've done i'll be expecting a very trick and well sorted Fantic from you old chap because i'm no engineer and i've got chocolate spanners....lol

Looking good..... All thats needed now is some Team Fantic t-shirts.

Sorted the front brake the cam was not releasing. Will have another look at the rear shocks the rebound is a little to bouncy. What rear shocks have you fitted and springs?

Bit of help please - I know one venue for this trial is Barbrook, can anyone tell me where the other one is as I can't find anything on this trial anywhere on the net. Don't want to phone the secretary unless I have to.

Also, which is the day 1 venue, Barbrook or the other one.

Thanks

Edit - sorted now thanks.

Woody the first day (Saturday}is at a place called Cove near Tiverton come off the M5 at j27 head into Tiverton on the A361 then look for the A 396 to Minehead after about 3 miles just follow the orange arrows round the little winding lanes and you cant miss it.

Cheers

Thanks Daz

Another question - has anyone who has entered received any confirmation of entry yet, entry list or whatever. I've received nothing yet and my cheque hasn't been cashed.

Again, don't want to pester the secretary as he probably has enough to do this week, but I'll have to phone if I've heard nothing in the next couple of days.

I've never ridden this event before so don't know what the norm is for entry confirmation etc.
