totalshell
trials is very small beer. honda have a dead cert to win the title evry title a home grown star for the people at home. they will stick with 4t until hell freezes over they can add bou's world titles to thier race titles and for very little money ( less thana million a year) a bargain by any advertising standard they could nt care less if they never sell another trials bike HONDA is what they want to sell not trials bikes. todays honda motorcycle commuter is tomorrows civic driver is tomorrows fireblade rider is tomorrows etc etc

nigel dabster
its a double standard for the Mont. put on a few trick bits and a few will whine "Honda$$$Honda$$$" .....the other works lads are on 100% production bikes. Horse poo! Amos and Gomez are on production bikes with 272cc piston kit...in the era of aftermarket its the same as any punter can buy Alredo Gomez has had a special bike for the last 4 years, compare the frames. jimmyl
Be really interesting to know how standard Grahams' bike was. From what I have read it seemed stock with a few off the shelf bolt on bits. He certainly seemed as competitive as anybody.
woody
I doubt it would matter if he was on a stock bike anyway in the SSDT as a stock bike can cope perfectly well with the sections. Big power and super light weight isn't really necessary. I had hoped he would win, not because he was on the Mont particularly, just because I think he is an excellent all-rounder and seems to genuinely enjoy his riding, trials or enduro. Difficult to see Honda going 2-stroke as it is against everything they have preached in recent years. Who knows whether there will be a new trials bike even. History shows they feel no need to produce a copy or replica of the world round bikes as there was never a production version of the works 305 or 360 twinshock. They were winning titles and that was enough. The RTL Mono works bikes were drastically different from the production bikes (especially Lejeunes aborted 360) and when titles eluded them they pulled the plug. Seems it's all about winning titles, as mentioned in other posts. As long as Bou is winning the title for them, I'd agree with previous posts, they probably won't care if there is a production bike or not as it is such small beer in terms of revenue. I spoke with Amos on thursday. the bike he rode in the ssdt was a standard bike (with a 260 kit)that was pulled from the comp shop stable. Right, a 260 from the comp shop. Anyone else think thats standard? PTB?
jimmyl
As said before as standard as any of the top bikes = probably more readily available if only a 260 kit fitted and all available over the counter. Probably cost less than a fully fettled gasser/beta/sherco etc as well. I am also led to believe all 4rts finished!!!
nigel dabster
I think Pidcocks have missed a trick with this. I can see no point in Grimbo riding anything other than a standard bike. He could quite easily take a standard bike to a top 5 position, what better marketing than that? What will he prove in taking a non standard bike to a similar position? Perhaps if you had read the thread you would have seen the point made earlier was exactly the original argument. Everyone knows the top riders have this or that its not news, it was precisely the fact that Graham could have had a standard or nearly so and produced the same result making all the expense of hiring him more significant and a great advert for one of the best bikes for scotland. The fact that he was brought back to the start area in a van one night (Friday?) when it wouldn't go is neither here nor there.
