xr600shinbruise Posted April 30, 2011 Report Share Posted April 30, 2011 evening everyone ive just bought a 1997 ec 250 in very good nick for age.first impressions are good it reminds me of my old cr 250.ive been riding honda xr series for so long i forgot how much i missed two strokes.gonna get it mot,d next week and go andw do a bit of enduro stuff.my mate has a new crf 450 so i hope i can keep up,any comments about the bike would be helpfull cheers guys mark Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

shedco Posted April 30, 2011 Report Share Posted April 30, 2011 Yep I had one when when it was new. Did a lot of miles & events on it. I think this model had some bushes in the gearbox that GG later replaced with bearings. So keep the engine oil fresh. The engine was very similar to the cr & the frame a kawasaki. shedco Posted April 30, 2011 Report Share Posted April 30, 2011 If its still original, be gentle with the kickstart they are made from Spanish butter! Rear subframes were weak, keep an eye on the welds. No lock stops, stick thick rubber to the frame where the forks touch it. The forks dent the frame if you lob it hard.
