Help Required From Riders In The Wakefield Disrict

This was an enquiry to Bradford & Dist MC, I thought it may get more exposure on here.

Stuart

My name is Nick Clayton, and I sit on the Wakefield district council's local land access forum. Currently i am representing the views of offroad drivers and trail bike riders on the committee and as a group we advise the council on the strategic aims for local access to the rights of way in the district.

We are currently setting up some focus groups representing each specific area of users (walkers, riders, motor vehicle, disabled etc) and we require some help. Would you be able to ask your members if any of them live in the Wakefield district and would be willing to take part in the focus group. The group for trail riders and 4x4 drivers will be held on the 2nd or 3rd weekend of April and will last approximately 1-2 hours. The focus group will discuss the various problems and solutions they encounter when trying to access the rights of way network in the area and these views / recommendations will go towards formulating a strategic plan in line with DEFRA publications for the Wakefield council to adopt.

This is a real chance for trail riders and other users of the network to have an impact on the way Wakefield district council implement rights of way issues and any help from the trail riders groups would be very much appreciated.

kind regards

Nick Clayton

I think that it is good that someone has the sense to get together and discuss the issue of 4x4's and trial riders to try and sort it out. Afterall aren't they looking for the same as us? A place to practice etc without being a pain in the ar**.

Fantastic...someone who actually WANTS to hear from those concerned.

Even if you Wakefield riders dont go trail riding/green laneing........please take your chance to air your views.

Thats something that would NEVER happen here in Hong Kong. Here laws/rules just get made, and then you've gotta live with it.

Please!!...(for me..and the sake of trials  ) support this and let your voices be heard

It would maybe help if those who are knowledgeable in this area post their views on here, just to give the Wakefield lads a kick start.

i.e. What are the problems associated with the rights of way network in general as far as trials are concerned.

I must admit, I've not come across too many problems, but most of our trials are contained within private land, the odd footpath maybe, but nothing more.

Just thought I'd suggest this, because if this was my area, I'd be sat here thinking "I don't mind helping out with my time, but I'm really not knowledgeable enough with regards to the real issues being faced".

i.e. I haven't got a clue what I'm talking about and could do more harm than good
