austini
Hi i've just bourght a 82 TLR 250 and although it runs fine most of the time, it does give the occasional cough and stalls about every 10 mins or so. I have cleaned the carbie, fresh fuel, breather works fine and renewed the air filter. Any ideas? Also what type of plug is best?
keychange
Pull the seat off and check the connection for the earth - that's exactly how a loose earth bolt will behave.
austini
The earth seems OK its earthed to the front airbox 8mm bolt
scoobydo
Sorry I cant help with info for the correct type of plug, but I'd say from your descripton that a new (correct) plug would fix the glitch you are having. Good luck !
bashplate
I'm using a NGK DPR 6 EA-9 in my 200, which seams to be working well for classic trials. If you were doing a long distance trial, i would proberbly go for a slightly cooler grade.....DPR 7 EA-9. Also the hondas are famous for the off idle cough...try richening the pilot mixture a bit. keychange
The earth seems OK its earthed to the front airbox 8mm bolt I would still remove it and clean everything to ensure that you have a good earth - make sure there is clear metal (not painted) connection to the frame. andy m
The off idle cough they are famous for is annoying, has anyone tried the oversize front pipe that supposed to eliminate it?? or a different carb ??
austini
Changed the plug to a NGK DPR 6 EA-9 didn't miss a beat all weekend, lost a few points to the 20 year old tyres and lack of functioning rear shocks but the engine and frame feel almost modern almost cheating for a post classic. Well almost
