dr nick
Hi.just bought an new front and back sprocket for a 98 beta .....my old back sprocket had 43 teeth compared to 42 as stock. Question is there really much difference with 42 compared to 43. At the moment with 43 teeth I find that second gear is a bit to high for me, because i always seem to stall it . In 1st gear I seem to be revving very high.....I could just wait till I ride on sunday but...I wanna know now regards N
dfwilson
Dr. Nick, With a 42 you will be going 2.381% faster at the same RPM than with a 43. You might want to go to a 44 or 45 tooth if you like to ride in second. Cheers Doug Wilson
dr nick
dfwilson...thanks for the reply but.... How did you get to that figure ???? is there an easy ay to work it out regards N
dfwilson
Dr. Nick, (# teeth on front sprocket / # teeth on rear) / (# teeth new front / # teeth on new rear)=change in ratio. X 100 is % change Cheers Doug Wilson
kinell
I've just made a simple Excel spreadsheet using those formulas. I found that keeping the rear sprocket standard at 41 teeth but changing the front from the standard 11 tooth to the 13 tooth will make the bike 15.38% faster using the same RPM's in each gear! kinell
Yep, 41 tooth rear sprocket on 2004 and 2005 Beta's as standard.
trialsmm
1 tooth on the counter shaft sprocket is equal to about 3 teeth on the rear. Up or down.
