alan_nc
I'm sure this has been covered before but I didn't find it: Need to replace the seals on my TY250 (1974). Can I do this without splitting the cases? If I can...how do you get the old seals out? Also any hint/tricks for putting the new seals in. Thanks in advance. feetupfun
Alan both seals can be changed without splitting the cases. RH seal requires removing the gear on the end of the crankshaft and LH seal requires removing the flywheel and ignition stator plate. I use a self tapper screwed into the LH seal to pull it out. The RH seal runs on a spacer so it is even easier to get out once you slide the spacer out. I fit mine with a little oil on the OD so they slide in smoothly. stork955
Gday, and further to Feetup's advice, dont forget to grease the inner lips of the seals as well - otherwise they will last as long as it took you to fit them... Cheers, Stork
yamty175
For future reference, would the same proceedure be used for a TY175? Thanks, Jonny.
