gasgasshetland
Hi there, My daughters 125 pro 05 is very poor at starting takes a lot of kicking over and will run with the choke on for a while but if try to take choke off it dies. I dont know if it just needs to run with the choke for a lot longer. I am comparing it to my 280 pro which does not need much choke. I have wondered about compression as it seems pretty poor and if this was causing the poor starting initially. (compared pressure to 125 sherco) Have been thinking to put a new piston kit on it but thought would ask first if anyone has any ideas what might be the problem and any possible cures they would be gratefully appreciated. charliechitlins
Sounds like a clogged pilot jet to me.

gasgasshetland
Thanks charliechitlins I have cleaned the carb and the bike did start 2nd kick. Tested the spark as well and it seems a little poor so could also be a factor. Thanks for your help Gary.
charliechitlins
Spark should be fat and blue. On battery-less bikes it can be a little smaller and more yellow because you can't get the bike spinning anywhere near even idle speeds with your foot. Also...a plug that fires well when lying on the head won't necessarily fire when installed. Oddly enough, compression makes it harder for spark to jump the gap. So many things can be cured with a fresh plug!
