I have just purchased a new 2011 Evo 125 for my 12 year old. I have been told by another dad that a good mod for the 2011 bike is to fit a 2010 fly wheel as it,s heavier an so gives the bike a bit more torque. Has any one done this mod? if so is it a straight swap or do you need to modify any thing.

Hello

I'd caution against the idea unless Beta have drastically reduced flywheel weight.

If you were trying to tame a big throbby powerful beast it may be a good idea.... but on a small 2 stroke with low Horsepower... I guess all you'd get would be a sluggish pick up and extra overrun when shut off... which may cause more problems than it solves.

Hi

We have both 2010 & 2011 125 Beta, both great bikes heaps of power just unbelivable. The 2010 has a lot more touque and visably has a much heavier flywheel. Ring Lampkins for advise as the 2011 has a few differences internally. I think a different shaped piston for one thing. The 2011 is probably the best 125 ever produced, if you are reading this and dont belive me please ride one. They are simply stunning and will produce enough power for most riders, even fat ones like me. My advise is to fit a slow action throtle, let the young fellow ride and enjoy his beautiful new girlfriend and he will soon get use to her. Most of all, Paul, you keep off it or you will fall in love too.

Have fun

Pete

Thanks for the reply's

We had the chance to ride both a standard 2010 and 2011 125s a few weeks ago and I was totally blown away at how strong they were. But you could certainly tell which one was which.

I will give Lampkins a call and see what they say.

Thank,s

Paul

Paul,

How did you get on with your research wrt the flywheel changes?

I'm riding an 09 now (as an adult getting back in to the sport) and am keen on a 2011/12 model...but, do have the lower down torque concerns.

Is the swap/mod do-able?

Cheers,
