chuckmorris
Is there a way of checking what year my bike is? The guy who I bought it from claimed it was 2004, but I'm not sure. Pic1 Pic2 Pic3 Pic4 Pic5 Pic6 The kickstart lever end has snapped off so that needs replacing but I might persevere with it being
ham2
That's an 01.
hop blip and a jump
Yeah i thought 01' or 02' pretty descent condition though!
chuckmorris
OK thanks. I didn't think it was 2004. Will either of these front mudguard fit? 2001 2002 Onwards Is it just the decal that's different? Are they pretty much the same fit?

pistonbroke
If it's got a single pot front brake caliper ( can't tell from the photos )it's defineately an '01 Phil
chuckmorris
Thanks for info. Phill, how does a newbie check that? Will that make a difference to either of the front mudguards fitting? The 2001 is more expensive. copemech
'01 mudguards come with stickers and a clearcoat = expensive.
chuckmorris
copemech - Will 2002 onwards mudguards fit my 2001?
copemech
copemech - Will 2002 onwards mudguards fit my 2001? Yes, '01-'05 will interchange, in blue or silver plastic. The stickers would be the issue. If the orig tank is in good nick, try to preserve it.
tony27
Later model guards do fit, looks to have a fairly late model white guard on it to me When I had a 01 I ended up fitting the later model front caliper for an improved brake, you need to change the disc guard at the same time though
chuckmorris
OK, thanks for your help.
charliechitlins
An '01 Sherco is a great bike. Smooth and bulletproof. I really miss mine. A 2 piston caliper from a later model will bold right on and is a sensible update. I think the "01 also has a 1-piece brake pedal and the later one with hinged end is another good update. ham2
... I think the "01 also has a 1-piece brake pedal and the later one with hinged end is another good update. Confirmed I remember a painful experience when I couldn't locate the original ,smaller, rear-brake-pedal in a hurry.
zippy
I think the "01 also has a 1-piece brake pedal and the later one with hinged end is another good update. My 2000 has the same brake pedal, I have a piece that bolts onto the pedal making the foot contact surface larger. But these one piece cast aluminum pedals really don't like rocks. I have 2 pedals (one for back up) and they both have been broke and welded back together, damn things are too expensive to keep buying new ones. I did not know that the newer pedals with the hinged end would fit the older bikes. I may have to look into that.
