correcaminos
Hey Guys, After sitting for a while, my '98 Montesa Cota 315R won't start. I suspect the float valve is stuck as fuel doesn't flow into the bowl. I've got the carb off the bike, and I removed the large bolt (with jet) at the bottom of the bowl but the bowl is still stuck to the carb itself. I don't see any other bolts or screws that would hold it in place but, since I'm not familiar with the DellOrto PHBH26cs, I might be missing something. I suspect the gasket has turned to mush and is holding the bowl in place. Before I go applying pressure, I'd like to confirm that there's nothing else holding the bowl in place. So, can anyone confirm that I should be able to remove the bowl at this point or explain how to remove it? Thanks, Miguel

You may want to get one of the newer "alcohol resistant" float valves. I think most these parts interchange with the later PHBL, the float valve should have a number onit I think, #250 is common on many of the newer carbs. RYP may have this stuff, or you can ck other local dealers as pretty common parts I think.
fastducs
I'd like to confirm that there's nothing else holding the bowl in place. So, can anyone confirm that I should be able to remove the bowl at this point or explain how to remove it? I just looked at the pics I took when I rebuilt my carb. I can confirm that there are no other bolts holding it. Give it a love tap with a rubber mallet and see if comes off. The gasket is actually a rubber o-ring that sits in a recess that's machined into the float bowl mating surface. The carb body mating surface is totally flat. So if worst comes to worst, you can use a stiff razor blade as a wedge, as long as you don't insert it too far.
correcaminos
Thanks guys. I'll try a gentle tap and see if that does it. Miguel
