bashplate Posted August 17, 2011 Report Share Posted August 17, 2011 brucey, if the plug is sooty, then it's running rich and you may need smaller jets , and or lower the float level. have you tried ajusting the pilot screw setting? and maybe the needle clip? may just be due to flooding of the float bowl due to sticking or dirty float valve, that would be first thing to check. brucey Posted August 18, 2011 Author Report Share Posted August 18, 2011 Tick over is steady and reasonably slow especially since reverting to the original jets. I seem to remember my old Cub being a little bit slower on tick over but that had a standard cam and this one has an R cam. I'll run it,do a plug chop and look at the needle adjustment if it's still sooty. Is there a seperate pilot screw adjustment? I thought you could only change the jet sizes.
