bob
My Sherco did this for a while, when did you last change the gearbox oil, if it was recently changed then do not woory, it will stop. It is likely that you have overfilled it over time as oil clings on to the gears and clutch and so sometimes you can end up with more oil in than expected. Someone else will probably know better but this is probably the problem. However it could be that your bike is leaking water into the gearbox from the water pump which often happens on Sherco's which would raise the level in the gearbox, to check for this drain your oil and see if it is milky. Someone else will probably know best though.
colly
had new waterpump seals done, and its been out twice riding and when i drained it i got 400ml out so i put 400ml back in becasue i knew there would be some still left in there
bob
well mine did it too for a while but it stopped so I don't know what it was all about. When you drain your oil try warming up the bike next time, this will let the oil flow more freely, just get out there and ride and it should clear up. colly
what will different oils do to it? im not sure what it is but used to drag with this oil in, then next time i went out it never.
timp
It could be your mains bearings that are worn. Any play in the bearings may affect the seals so letting air pressure from the engine to the gearbox Mark T
bob
Could i put 50ml less in my Beta aswell, I noticed that since the last oil change the oil looked abit high on the gague and thus the clutch dragged, Is 50cc about a right amount to put in less, i suppose it isn't much. And don't Sherco's have 450cc not 400 or have they gone down on newere bikes, my bike was a 2000, but RYP website said 450 on al bikes up to 2004. Im pretty sure it did... the artist formerly known as ish
It should be 450, don't know why I was thinking
doughbouysherco
If its only dripping out now & again i wouldnt worry to much, have had this happen on are last two Sherco's leaking in the van on the way home from a trial & in the garage after. Has only happened a couple of times though if you change your gear oil regularly this should not be a problem.
