the sherco is a lot smother to ride than the gas gas.if its to lively it is easier and cheaper to calm it down.p/s a friend of mine has a 09 280 gg,and another has a 2010 290 sherco.

thanks for your advice really like the style of the sherco.

Go for a 250 Gas Gas, avoid a Sherco. To be serious though ask a question like what bike and you will not get an answer that will suit you. The only way is to try a bike, some suit some people some do not.

I have recently moved from a 300 gas gas on to a 250 gas gas and find it a lot easier to live with. a mate has gone from a 290 sherco onto a 250 sherco and improved instantly. whichever make you choose one of the big boys might not be the best way to go.

I would concur with that statement. Two friends bought a Sherco 2.9 and they could not get them to grip at all only to drop in results.

Different years changed the power and torque on models, and i believe the 280 GasGas became softer on the 2010 model and the 300 became the beast as previously the 280 was the beast to tame.

The 2010 Sherco had major issues with the petrol tanks so look into this.

Only the very early models had issues, and they were all sorted under warranty.

My 290 is smoother than a smooth thing winning first prize in a being smooth competition, so don't believe everything you read, especially on internet forums.

Just a pity you got over 100 points in your last trial. So if your bikes really really good your worse than I thought.

Buy Beta

Hi All

Hoping to return to trials after a 20 year break (kids, mortgage usual c@@p) thinking of buying the Beta Evo 300 4T. Any info on how it will perform for an over 40 over weight bloke. When I retired I was riding the Beta TR 34 and loved the the thing.

I recently bought a 2010 Sherco 250 after a 13 year break. My last bike was a 5 year old 1992 Gas Gas 327 which i rode junior on.

I chose the Sherco because my mate also got back into trials after a long break and bought a 2011 250 Sherco earlier this year which i was able to ride and also due to the excellent dealer service he was provided with, plus they gave me a very very good price.

The Sherco 250 is definately not lacking in power and is very snappy but still subtle enough to slowly putt around on. I havn't ridden a 290 but if it's got more power than the 250 then no thanks! I'd be in trouble!

No dramas with my bike so far.

cheers
