got me a 2000 txt 280 a couple of weeks ago. It needed some restoration, fan hotwired to always run, among other things. Thermostat was in place and it was working, so i hooked it up using the schematics from trialspartusa.com. I am pretty sure that when fan came on, it ran at constant speed, regardless of engine speed. Now, after having bike apart and frame stripped to do some welding( rear shock mount broke off), fan varies its speed with the engine speed. What have i done wrong reconnecting ?

I did fire up the bike with a faulty regulator and headligth bulb blew out. Could that have damaged the fan rectifier? ( actually i rode it til fan came on) This faulty ac regulator was mounted on bike when i got it and fan was running fine and steady..

In my experience, the fan will vary speed according to engine RPM up to about 1200 RPM.
