Clutch arm on top, different engine covers, Amal carb... The guy I got it from tied it down to bring it home and when he took the straps off, the forks stayed collapsed. Any Ideas. The seat/tank is a WRECK. What are we doing with these things these days? I still figure I did OK. Buying bikes from rednecks is interesting. He took $375 and a 30-pack of Busch. for artie Posted September 17, 2011 Report Share Posted September 17, 2011 (edited) It's a Cota 247 "C"....somewhat rare in the USA. Older Montesa forks will stick after sitting for a long time. Take them apart, use a broom handle and hammer to push out the damper rods. You will see the aluminum bushing on the damper rods have "swelled" and need to be turned down a wee bit. Looks like aftermarket shocks. The tank can be fixed, the rest of the bike is not bad. Does it run? The serial nimber 21M25425 25K+ that is a lot of 247 Cotas Nice find. Make it a runner and ride it. I got hold of a brand new tank and seat a guy had in his garage - it was a 247 unit but I still had to make rubber spacers for mounts as it was wider than the original. The seat base on the 348 points downwards, on the 247 it's horizontal.
