al mason
Saw a few bikes with black rims yesterday at the Jack Wood. I fancy mine doing, does anybody know who can do this job. I would need somebody to rebuild the wheels afterwards. An idea of cost would be appreciated. Thought I had read some info. on this site some time ago but can,t find it now. Thanks in advance. heathy
I done it myself on my gas gas, just mask the spokes and take off your tyre then use some good quality plastic coat paint and give it about 3 coats. I painted mine black and it lasted ages, I just had to touch it up everytime I hit the rim on a rock or scratched the paint.

Give it a coat of clear laquer aswell when its finished. When you think about it you don't hit your rims on things that often anyway and if you do all you need to do is touch it up. Im thinking about doing it too my sherco aswell but I can't decide what colour. The best thing about doing my gas gas black was that I didn't even need to take the tyres off, but im not sure black will suit a sherco, I like the gold on Joe Bakers old bike but I haven't decided yet. What colour are you thinking about for yours?
