From the rummers we have heard and from some people we know who live in Italy it seems that Beta are taking this different route to get around the 2 stroke ban.

Because it is fuel injected you will have a have an oiled crank from a resivoir not from the fuel passing by.

Imsuprised you lot don't know more because we heard about this last year

i'll see if i can hunt down some more info on it

No you would not need to premix your fuel it would run on neat! The reason you premix is so that the oil in your fuel lubricates the big end etc as it passes it. With a FI 2 stroke you could somehow make the big end run in its own oil and inject neat petrol into the combustion chamber therefore cleaning up the emitions!

I thought Gas Gas had played with this idea as well a couple of years ago???

If you really want to know where FI 2 stroke technology is then check out some of the outboard motor sites like Evinrude, Mercury and Yamaha. The technology is there and it does work extreamly well. The outboard manufacturers are well ahead of the motorcycle industry in this field. They are also perfecting 4 stroke technology in outboards too. Mercury even has a supercharged 4 stroke, the Verado, but the darn thing weighs nearly 700 lbs!! Pretty interesting to see what has been developed over the years. They face the same future bans of two strokes as the motorcycle industry but I think their piece of the recreational pie is a bit larger so the R&D money is there and the incentive to clean up two strokes.
