Put a lump of grease on the bolt head before drilling. This will lubricate the drill bit, but more importantly catch the swarf from drilling. As stated by others the bolt has a hole down the centre, and you don't want metal filings getting into the transmission on the other side.

Drill bolt

remove clutch basket

remove remainder of bolt shaft

replace clutch

and replace bolt - part number Mt280232081 (always use the genuine bolt).

hi there anyone got any ideas how to get the little allen key bolt what olds clutch basket on out .it is rounded off cant get it out with spit key or allen key ...cheers,,,

You could try a T-25 Torx bit on a short extension and then unscrew it out. Tapping the bit into the head of the capscrew will help break the bond. As mentioned, be sure to use a new OEM capscrew and a new Allen wrench or an old one with 5mm cut off the end.

:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I've observed this procedure first hand several times...it helps to avoid the rounded head in the first place ( not trying to sound like a smart 4r5e just trying to help for the next time around). That little bolt is well buried on the Pros :blink:

You're right, it really does help, especially when one comes across that weird capscrew down in the hub hole. The capscrew is shaved down (and drilled to allow the trans to vent) to help clear the top hat servo cylinder so there is very little area for the Allen to "bite" into and if an old, worn Allen wrench is used they strip in no time. I always give the extention a tap with a small hammer before taking that capscrew out.
