First Real Ride On My '03 Pro...

The snow has finally abated enough here in Vermont for the south facing ledge near my house to be rideable. I rode an '04 Sherco 2.9 last season, but picked up a nearly new '03 300 Pro from someone. After riding them back to back on my sections I am very impressed with the 300. I am sure the Sherco is great for some people, but after riding them back-to-back I was amazed how much better the Gas Gas worked for me. On a bike that I had never ridden before, I was able to ride everything I could clean on my Sherco. The suspension seems substantially better, I can balance on it better at a standstill and while moving, and it seems to turn tighter. I don't know why it rides so much better for me, but I am happy! I look forward to expanding my horizons on this bike. Now for a question: While crawling in first gear on flat ground with virtually no throttle, the engine seems to knock. If I slip the clutch, as I usually do and keep the revs up it doesn't happen. The bike has the stock gearing and jetting. Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Wardo

Actually I am keeping the Sherco, the Sherco was my first modern trials bike, and as reliable as a wedge. I got a reasonable deal on the Gasser, so figured I'd try something different. If the bike is as good as it feels, and is reasonably reliable then I'll be glad I made the trade. Only time will tell.

Regards,

Wardo
