wardo
The snow has finally abated enough here in Vermont for the south facing ledge near my house to be rideable. I rode an '04 Sherco 2.9 last season, but picked up a nearly new '03 300 Pro from someone. After riding them back to back on my sections I am very impressed with the 300. I am sure the Sherco is great for some people, but after riding them back-to-back I was amazed how much better the Gas Gas worked for me. On a bike that I had never ridden before, I was able to ride everything I could clean on my Sherco. The suspension seems substantially better, I can balance on it better at a standstill and while moving, and it seems to turn tighter. I don't know why it rides so much better for me, but I am happy! I look forward to expanding my horizons on this bike. Now for a question: While crawling in first gear on flat ground with virtually no throttle, the engine seems to knock. If I slip the clutch, as I usually do and keep the revs up it doesn't happen. The bike has the stock gearing and jetting. Any thoughts? Thanks, Wardo
copemech
Yea, Wardo, you shouda kept the Sherco so you will have something to ride while you're fixing the Gasser!
wardo
Actually I am keeping the Sherco, the Sherco was my first modern trials bike, and as reliable as a wedge. I got a reasonable deal on the Gasser, so figured I'd try something different. If the bike is as good as it feels, and is reasonably reliable then I'll be glad I made the trade. Only time will tell. scorpaf
The Pros have very noisy clutches - clutch out and they rattle - clutch in the noise stops. Its just the design of the clutch, nothing to worry about.
