jonflower
Hi guys.. I was wondering if any of you might be able to help me with the identification of an engine that i have purchased but not been to collect yet as I'm a little dubious about the engine number after a bit of looking about. The engine number is apparently C15T 5693 I have had a good look but it appears to me that they did not produce any engines for the C15 with the T prefix past the number 2200... I just wondered if any of you have come across ones with numbers this high as its been advertised as a genuine C15T engine (rare apparently) I just dont want to be a horror and find out its just a C15 with a T stamped on it. Any info would be greatly appreciated Thanks and kind regards Jon

jonflower
Jon Yes , Nigel is OK, You havent actualy said it is him selling it, but if it is,and the motor turns out to not be as advertised, I would think he would make the deal right. Hi Mike.. Many thanks for your reply, its not Nigel that is selling it but the people that are have quite clearly stated to me that Nigel has checked the engine over and said that it is the genuine article. But the people who are selling it said he has not performed an internal inspection. So basically i asked if I might be able to have a contact number for Nigel so I could speak to him about it and see how he has identified it to be correct even though its got the wrong numbers, so I've now been told by Pete Kirby. They refused to give me a number for him which i also thought was a bit odd seeing as if they are not quite telling the truth then they are using his name to bump something out that isn't quite right! I dont suppose you would happen to know anyway I could get hold of Nigel before I go and take this engine apart at the guys place to make sure it has the right gearbox and crank ect in it? monty_jon
Hi Monty.. Yeah thats right, I went to that on it for a few reasons, unfortunatly I had not had a chance to check the numbers and speak to people before I'd got it. I just took the description from the seller as to be correct. Do you know anything about it? Kind regards Jon I was watching it myself but it went way out of my price range, I know very little about the C15T engines Hope it works out well, should make a nice project if it correct. charlie prescott
Hi Guy's Hi Jon, I took a close look at the photos of this engine the emailed to ask if it had PVL ignition fitted as there was a breather coming from the distributor hole. I had no reply from the guy's, and then a couple of days later a add-on to the advert stated it had got PVL ignition fitted. I was very intrested in the engine up until this point, then I realized that they did not realy know about the engine, if they did not know that PVL ignition was fitted to it before they placed the Item on e-Bay. But more still they did not even e-mail me back with a reply. I think that there is somthing not quite right?? Anyway I worked out at
monty_jon
I will second what Charlie says, I purchased a C15 engine my years ago for £60 which looked to be in very good condition, but on stripping down the crank was damaged and most parts very worn! You really need to have a look inside Edited November 28, 2011 by Monty_Jon

pat slinn
Hi, I have a listing in my records from the engine development department at BSA in February 1964 of a engine being rebuilt for the competitions department with the no, C15 T 20014. My records also state that the engine was previously numbered ED 104 ( ED meaning engine development ) The re-build is at the request of Mr Brian Martin. My records show that a experimental needle roller bearing was fitted to the timing side, and a roller big end bearing. I have no more information written down, and after 47 years I cant remember any more.sorry. Pat.
