wobbler
My 1979 / 1980 Montesa Cota 247c Amal 627 Carb is quite badly worn. I would like to replace it - possibly with a more modern carb (& air box if required). Any advice & Help (Photos would be good) would be appreciated. Thanks in Advance The Wobbler !! belldane
The problem with all those Amals for many years has been that the slide is made out of the same material as the stuff it slides on. Get the carb re sleeved, new slide and no more problems. In the long run it will be cheaper and you don't have to muck around with jetting ect. Take it from me, jetting a new carb to suit can be a pain in the a*** and you will always be fiddling with it and never get it quite right. wobbler
Thanks for that - I'd looked at refurbishing it but as I intend to ride it for a while I was prepared to spend a few quid more if someone could advise me on a Carb/Airfilter set up that gave me a bit more performance etc. Understand about the jetting etc. Yours Mostly upside down The Wobbler
feetupfun
Its not the carb size or the air filter design that limits the performance
