dandanj
Hi all, I've tried searching for the answer, but didn't find much, so have started a new topic. On my sons TY 80 Whitehawk, the kick start hits the peg before it has had much of a chance to turn the engine over. Is this right? Luckily it starts second kick, but I don't like that it bashes the peg very hard every time you kick it. Should it have a cranked starter, one that has the swivel at the bottom of the lever, so when you pull the starter out to kick it over, it misses the peg altogether? Hope that makes sense... Is there an aftermarket kick starter that does away with my problem?
lineaway
on the stock ty, the peg was to fold up out of the way. I would kick softly or rotate it forward, slamming it into the peg will cause a short life span on the shaft.

dandanj
Hi As the above reply, on my son's the kickstart folds up - then has a full stroke to kick cheers John Thanks for the replies. The foot peg does fold up, but the kick starter hits the peg mounting bracket, which is fixed. I will have to investigate further. I will post some photos if I get the hang of it. Thanks again, its apreicated
