Beta EVO exhaust failure

Hi guys,

Can any one help?

Whilst out on my bike today I was cruising in top gear on a local lane about three quater throttle when the exhaust note suddenly changed, it sounded like the pipe had poped of from the barrel but when I stopped the rear silencer at the junction to the front pipe had just disintegrated and boy was it hot.

Has anyone had this befor?

Are you saying the ally has melted/vapourised? or the O ring(s) burned out? I.ve got through my share of O rings but only once (on a 305 Fantic Thursday morning of the SSDT) melted an expansion box/silencer.. and that was due to holding it flat out for several miles.

Never seen an alloy pipe melt but I have seen a steel pipe get red hot which is more than enough to melt aluminium. Cause can be build up of oil / carbon during slow speed riding then when engine gets a prolonged bit of high speed running the build up catches fire and burns at red heat - a bit like fire embers.

Cheers
