city trials
I want to apologize to all the TC readers on the lack of photos and full results for the Texas National. I'll give TC readers a much more complete view of rounds # 3 and 4 next week in Tennessee. Anyhow, here are a few excuses. I didn't take the camera on the loop trial this weekend, my back pack was full of water to keep our team hydrated. Wi-Fi Internet access seems spare in Texas. High gusty winds up to 45 miles an hour caused dust storms. ( Ah, the perverbial weather report. ) All my batteries went dead, our generator was working at half voltage. Some other notes on the weekend. The paddock area was in a cow pasture. It looked as if they moved the cows out of the field a month before the event, burned the crap out of the field, and said this is where the camp ground will be. Everywhere you looked there were huge cow dung piles, some burnt, some not. Being a city boy, I found this was very un-cool. What really ticked me is the gall to charge a twenty dollar per person land fee for this poor lay-out. For crying out loud, this is the massive state of Texas, couldn't they find a field with-out cow crap? I lost a bet to Stevie Darrow, a few bucks, plus I have to dye my hair orange this week. Darn kids, they know it all.
dfwilson
City Trials, For crying out loud, this is the massive state of Texas, couldn't they find a field with-out cow crap? Blame the Texas Legislature for the cow crap. You can't afford to own land in Texas unless you can get an agriculture exemption, which means either cow crap or trees. Other than that I hope you enjoyed the event. Where you able to participate in a cow chip throwing contest? Wi-Fi hah it's a wonder your cell phone worked. Ciao Doug Wilson
ronm
I would like to thank the Texas crew for a great event. Yes it was windy and yes we parked in a cow pasture. On the plus side, the sections were fun. The difficulty level for the support lines was about right. There were plenty of checkers and even though they were not all trials riders, they did a good job. There were way more than enough portapotties. The temperature was good both days, and the weather held out on Sunday. Thanks to all involved, you did a great job.
copemech
Craig, Just be glad they toasted all the cow paddies or you would have had more problems in the motorhome than just the generator! I could have picked them all up and then shook hands with ya! Mark

Lots of parking, great food from the Mizells to help the youth kids & well marked loop. Didn't mind the cow paddies, thats just part of Texas. Two years ago we had lots of rain if I remember, this year we were hoping for some. Thanks you Texas for putting on a great event ! Hay Mark sorry to have missed the demo, next time I am down you can show me what Ryan did on your wifes 125, just this time you have to ride the section. I'll spot for you.
