brae
I am new to trials and brought myself a 05 280 pro.Apart from it being a bit fierce I find it hard to select neutral gear with my foot i have to use my hand

richt
It's prety normal. Neutral is almost impossible to find while the engine is running but is easier to get by hand. or if still rolling.
pindie
Change your gear box oil. Run for an hour and change again. Use ATF as it's cheap. I bet it improves. Edited February 29, 2012 by pindie

anotherfive
rev the bike as you try select it helps for some reason, maybe overun and unloading the gears
lewisallen
iv got this exzact problem mate, i cant get N when standing still with engine on, just roll forward and light tap down from 2nd and she goes in, better to be like this than to loose, dont want to be accidently hitting N when riding espically if you've only just started. pindie
Oil filter? I'd just chnage the gearbox oil.
beatabeta
As mentioned above give the throttle a little blip when you are going up from 1st or down from 2nd. Quite common but very simple once you've done it a few times (assuming your gearbox is OK) 280's were ultra fierce back then. Too late now but 250 or 300 are loads softer and 300 has added bonus of low down grunt Maybe try a S3 flywheel weight or slow action throttle. If not you can get head cylinder head spacers that will slow it off.
cmc84
I could never get it, but since changing the oil its no probs. Im introgued by the S3 flywheel - where can I get one? I got the 280 as a bargain, and it is definately a bit fierce - by the last lap I'm hanging off the back like a ribbon (all 16 stone...)
