james111089
Hi, I am sure my tlr 200 is spose to have some sort of spacer on the front sproket shaft. As the chain has worn away a bit of the engine casing where it has been rubbing against it. The sproket i have on it at the moment is approx 6mm wide and there is about a 4-5mm gap of movement before it touches the circlip. Its not the shaft as this has a little play but not much. Even if it is not spose to have a spacer, does it have a wider sproket? i have attached a pic of the engine and sproket. Could someone please either see if there bike has a spacer or see if there sprocket is wider than 6mm I would be gratful if someone would do this for me. Many Thanks James

golfpro
Hi James Try Tim at Gordon Farley Motorcycles, (01483 538485). He sold me a splined spacer that goes onto the shaft before the sprocket and a new spropcket with a boss on casing side of it. The splined spacer only goes on the shaft so far, and keeps the sprocket well away from the casing. Good luck. Mike

g4321
One question looking at the picture you have posted - was there a circlip on the shaft which stopped the sprocket moving too far on the shaft in towards the crankcase - Isuspect not. If not there should be (there should be one circlip on either side of the sprocket - one to stop it moving inwards and one to stop it moving outwards.. Does the sprocket you took off have a shoulder on it or is it a flat piece of metal? All the sprockets I have have a slight (approx 2mm) shoulder on them which spaces them out from the inner circlip. perhaps the previous owner has fitted a plain sprocket to the bike - just a thought? When I 'enduro' my TLR I have a 13 tooth front sprocket which is flat and I need to space this out accordingly. In practice I make sure all the sprockets i use have little or no sideways movement on the shaft with tdifferent thickness washers between the sprocket and circlips. Possibly you could do away with inner circlip and space sprocket out from crankcase but I would be a little concerned over the crankcase/ggearbox oilseal. james111089
yeh its a flat sprocket. Only the one circlip on the outside grove.(where does the second one go ?) any pics of ya bike please? James

James, Just looked at my TLR250 and 200 microfiches - the 200 has a different method of sprocket fitment so disregard my comment about a 2nd circlip, this is a 250 sprocket fitment. The TLR200E should have the sprocket located buy a flat locating plate which is actually bolted onto the sprocket . This is shown in the photo below. If a circlip is locating your sprocket then there may be nothing to stop it moving towards the crankcase & hence chain rubbing on case
james111089
Yeh think thats how there spose to be orignal. But when you put like a 9/10 tooth on you can use that piece so you need to get a spacer i think James
golfpro
Hi James Sorry no pic available. The plate that is in the pic above is on the 13 tooth sprockt, which also has a boss on it which spaces it from the engine casing. The 9 tooth sprocket is too small to have the same plate, so is held on by a circlip. The splined washer I have on my TLR 200 (a genuine Honda part !!) is the bit you need. Back to Tim at Gordon Farley. Cheers Mike
