taylo63
Hi All Looking at buying a gas gas TXT PRO 250 possibly 2009 ish. Could anyone give me any tips on what to look for if I decide to buy one. Also are there any common faults issues with thes bikes and are they reliable? Any advice gratefully received. Thanks
husky
Great bike from 2009 with the newer frame, much better than 2008.Buy the best condition one you can find, some have been ridden/abused and cost too much to put right.Check rear linkage bearings for wear, and ride it to check gear selection. Some of them develop an awful 4/5 and 5/4 gearchange with a loud clunk.Clutch rattles in neutral, pull it in and noise goes.Motor should be quiet other than this with plenty of power, probably the pokiest 250 of that year.Check the brackets on the exhaust middle box, they sometimes need rewelding.Ask theowner how often the gearoil gets changed, its best to change it every 4 trials as it also lubes the main bearings, they don't last long with dirty oil.Get a good one and you'll love it

bmseven
Got a 2008 last of the classic shape and also love it As above the clutch rattles as standard as does the 4th gear clonk, it's the way they are made!
