I am about to fabricate the tail pipe. Kind regards Martin Hi Martin This is the rather sorry looking mk1 exhaust that I have got. As you can see, the tail pipe has been bent and the inlet cut to angle it outwards. The inlet side is 48mm in diameter (outside edge to outside edge). I have tried to show what the inside looks like as well. After the inlet, there is a chamber before the tube that runs down the middle. Hope this helps. I have spent 4 hours today opening the silencer (muffler) and re-fabricating the rear part and tail pipe. When I opened it up i could have cried! No wonder it was noisy, all the 3mm holes in the baffle tube were blocked up with carbon! I suppose 40years takes it's toll! Anyway all drilled out cleaned up and ready for packing. Hopefully all the dirty work out the way. Thank you all, as the photos and info allowed me to scale the fabrications. Kind regards. A Bultaco of similar condition and originality would have done much better and yet the Cota in competition was very comparable.
