bultoboy
I have just started to sort out my 301 mono and kicked it over today. with the choke on it started ( after a lot of kicking) and it reved its nuts off choke off it died, after fettling with the adjusters on the carb the same although with the thumb screw i managed to drop the revs with the choke on but it died again. Any ideas? It has not got the standard air filter on just a old pre 65 style one i had knocking around would this explain the erratice behaviour? james
axulsuv
Sounds like you've got a serious vacuum leak ...
bultoboy
by vacum leak do you mean sucking in air via the carb? or should i be looking into taking the engine to bits?
axulsuv
Sucking air after the carb ... Get it running again and spray some carb cleaner around the intake hose and the mainifold . if the tone changes , youve found your leak . Can also suck air at the big end seals , but thats pretty rare ... Glenn
