drongo
Just ridden first big trial on the 200 & it performed very well however I had lots of trouble starting it once hot & it had stood for a few minutes. I run standard heat range plug & tried a couple of new ones including an iridium plug but still the same. Once started it ran fine. Have an OKO carby but it did the same on the Delorto.( The little short prod kick start doesnt help). Starts 2nd. kick from cold on choke & first kick when warm but when hot the problem occurs.Otherwise just great to ride & apart from a dumb 5 would have finnished 2nd to the current champ. turbo
I always find it is best with these old Fantics to renew all of the electrics as a matter of course as they do deteriorate over the years.
drongo
Thanks for the quick reply guys. Will give that a try. Surprised that if it is the coil it ran so well when it got going?
andy m
As Turbo said above, replace both coils at same time, they are over 30 yrs old now. I had same problem with mine, a pig to start when hot and replaced both coils and fitted an OKO carb, it starts and runs well now. I tried the ht coil first it was a bit better but spot on with both coils.
scorpa250
My 240 was the same when cold and when running it was fine ,stop it when hot and was a sod to start. Changed the coil and it was fine .Spark was weak when hot . Regards scorpa250

furse
running backwards is down to the timing, the stator plates need turning a degree or half, think its clockwise but there will be definate info on here somewhere, 'search running backwards'
